BARNSLEY FC Community Trust’s undeniable positive impact on locals’ lives has earned them a Proud of Barnsley nomination.
The trust handle the charitable side of Barnsley Football Club, delivering charitable and community activities across the town.
Last year, the group was named the Charity of the Year at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber Awards.
The trust also earned a well deserved award for their work in mental health, especially its Team Talk scheme.
The programme gives local men a chance to connect in a safe, casual space, sharing experiences and building coping strategies.
Participants are guided by specialist coaches, offering peer support and the chance to create deep and meaningful connections.
Furthermore, the trust was the recipient of a £3,000 cheque, which went towards supporting men who suffer from mental health challenges.
Bosses beamed about the impact of their community initiatives - saying it demonstrates their commitment to creating a ‘stronger, healthier and more inclusive community’.
Barnsley FC Community Trust symbolises the transformative power of sport and community.
They support locals in areas such as health and wellbeing, education and employability and inclusion and participation.
The charity’s community impact is evident, engaging between 10,000 and 15,000 beneficiaries each season, from one to 100 years old.
Participants in the community events gather regularly to enjoy activities such as walking football, pickleball and the Inclusive Reds.
The Inclusive Reds engage adults with SEND and has been instrumental in supporting participants’ health and wellbeing.
A diverse array of physical activities cater to all needs and abilities, championing accessibility and bringing joy to the lives of diverse locals.
