DISGRUNTLED bowling club members are on a desperate hunt for a new green having been driven out by persistent dog fouling.
Players at Old Town Bowling Club, behind the Miners’ Rest pub, on Palm Street, have been forced to close their green.
The closure came as a result of repeated incidents of dog mess ruining members’ experiences.
As an unpleasant and temporary solution, the group reluctantly resolved to picking up the mess themselves.
Club members who relied on the sport for getting active and socialising have been left frustrated and without any alternatives.
Since the closure of their beloved green, members are distraught, with no new locations available to play at.
Maggie Raylls, a disappointed member, told the Chronicle: “It’s awful because we rely on bowling for getting out.
“There isn’t much to do in the winter and now we have nowhere else to go.
“We’re all stuck now and we’ll have to stop until we find somewhere else.
“It’s not a small problem, there’s just so much of it.
“We must have cleaned up 60 pieces of mess in the last fortnight.”
