ADAM Phillips, Josh Earl and Mael de Gevigney all have a chance of returning from injury for Barnsley’s next game, says Conor Hourihane.
The Reds – who host Luton Town on November 22 – have been without midfielder Phillips for the last four games while defenders Earl and de Gevigney have also been absent since late October.
Head coach Hourihane told the Chronicle: “I think they all should be back this week in terms of training so, barring no setbacks, they all should be in contention for Luton.”
He added: “We’ve been nursing some injuries, players who have been out and players who’ve been playing. The last five or six games have been a big ask for the lads so a little bit of rest will be good for everyone.”
Left-back Georgie Gent has been out since March with an Achilles injury. After being an unused substitute for the FA Cup win over York last week, he played 60 minutes for the under 21s at Hull City on Tuesday, rather than playing in the EFL Trophy against Lincoln.
Hourihane said: “He’s doing OK.
“We had a discussion with Georgie about whether he was better off getting longer away from the trophy game.
“It would have been a big ask for him to start against a proper Lincoln team.
“It would have been a case of getting him on for 15 minutes so we decided to send him to the under 21s to play 60 minutes, he came through it and it will be beneficial for him.”
