A MAN who bought the World War One medal of a Barnsley Pals veteran from an antiques shop in Warwick is hoping to reunite it with his family.

Graham Burton, 72, bought the medal around 20 years ago but after seeing the family of Willie Greaves finally receiving his medal more than 100 years later, he was inspired to do the same.

The service number on the medal is 40439 and it is for Pvt A.E Mason.

Graham told he Chronicle: “Me and my wife went to Warwick Castle about 20 years ago and we went into an antiques shop and I saw the medal.

“I bought it because I thought it might have been a relative of Lord Mason’s, the former Barnsley MP.

“I’ve not done anything with the medal but I want to reunite the medal with his family.

“I’m sure they’d be grateful to have it.”
