A BEAUTY queen nurse stunned judges in a modelling contest.
Gemma Stanley, 42, who hails from Hoyland, has found herself in a series of modelling contests after her fitness transformation.
The nurse, who owns her own private clinic, ‘BU Medispa’, recently competed in the Miss British Isles Elegance contest on Sunday - and made it all the way to the semi-finals.
Due to her sparkling performance, she has been selected for the contest’s 2026 finals.
The winner will claim a crown and the title, alongside being flown to Marbella for an official photoshoot.
Gemma started modelling two years ago after undergoing a fitness transformation from an intensive gym routine.
She said: “It feels really strange if I’m being honest.
“I felt like a fish out of water.
“It all started with my fitness journey.
“I’m 42, so I thought this would be a younger person’s game.
“This category is women 35 and over.
“The oldest lady who competed was 65.”
Gemma has found juggling modelling alongside running her clinic manageable.
She described the catwalk training that she took part in as ‘time consuming’ as a single mum.
Overall, Gemma has thoroughly enjoyed the experience, expressing the possibility of competing in Miss Great Britain 2027.
Competition rules state that a participant can’t earn more than one title in one year.
Pageants works differently, with an emphasis on charity work and self-promotion, offering a different challenge.
She added: “I thought ‘I’m just a normal woman from Barnsley, can I win this?’
“When I’m modelling I’m not nurse Gemma or mum Gemma, it’s something different.
“It was more of a mental challenge than anything.
“It’s a really supportive community.
“Everyone was really nice, most people were giving advice and chatting, lots of people were competing for fun.”
