ATHERSLEY Rec are due to host Worsbrough Bridge on Saturday in a Barnsley derby with importance at both ends of the table.
Bridge are currently third, ten points off leaders Dearne and District with three games in hand, while Rec are 19th, one place and one point clear of the relegation zone.
Worsbrough are unbeaten in 15 games while Rec are winless in nine.
Bridge manager Lee Morris said: “It’s a good one.
“They are always tight games and Athersley are always up for it.
“It’s great to have a Barnsley derby over Christmas.
“It’s a bit disappointing it’s not on Boxing Day because that’s a big tradition in England obviously.
“We will go there full of confidence and looking to win.
“Hopefully the weather is decent and we get a big crowd.
“Athersley is a great club that is run right by good people
“I hope they stay up.
“The more derbies and local teams the better for us.”
They won 4-0 at Dinnington Town in the Sheffield Senior Cup quarter-final on Tuesday.
