BARNSLEY runners were out in force at various events on Christmas week.
On the Welsh border, Penistone Footpath Runner Tom Fryers claimed overall victory at the Hay Santa Run in Hay-on-Wye. The festive two-mile road race saw Fryers lead the field home on the town-centre course.
Penistone’s Flynn Rogers won the Sheffield Children’s Hospital ‘Glow in the Park’ Run while also raising £150 for the charity.
The final fixture of the South Yorkshire Cross Country League took place at Graves Park in Sheffield.
It was also the championship fixture.
Barnsley AC’s under 13 boy Archie Bisht and senior woman Ruby Sunman won bronze medals.
Barnsley AC held their Christmas Handicap with Riley Turton coming in first with a time of 24-34.
Faye Lund was second home as first and fastest female in 24-46. James Drake finished as fastest man in 18-13.
Barnsley AC’s Christopher Ryder ran a PB at the Media City 10k in Manchester with a time of 46-18.
