CONOR Hourihane said he understands fans' frustrations after the team were booed off after losing 3-2 against Mansfield - but he admits 'it's going to take a little bit of time'.
Aaron Lewis completed a magnificent comeback late on as Mansfield came from two goals down to beat Barnsley 3-2 at Oakwell.
Reyes Cleary and Keillor-Dunn made it 2-0 to Barnsley in the opening 13 minutes before Louis Reed scored from the penalty spot for Mansfield.
The Stags levelled through Stephen McLaughlin early in the second half before Lewis won the game late on.
Hourihane said: "I thought we started the game really bright and scored a couple of really good goals.
"We didn't quite get to grips in the second half, we didn't create loads if I'm being honest.
"But ultimately I was really disappointed.
"Everything that is going against us is more self-inflicted rather than teams carving us open or missing a press or they're playing through us.
"We've got to have a little bit of a think about the way we're going to approach things moving forward."
Barnsley have conceded 11 goals in their last four league games.
Hourihane said: "We scored goals (today).
"We scored three against Leyton Orient.
"There was two today, obviously.
"It's the other side of it that we need to sort out for sure."
Fans booed off the side at full-time following the collapse and Hourihane said he understands the frustration.
He added: "They want to see us winning games of football more regularly.
"I want to see it more than anyone.
"We're not quite there at the minute.
"I'm on about as a football club as well.
"Are we that powerhouse that we used to be at this level once more? Probably not, if I'm honest.
"It’s going to take a little bit of time and people need to realise that.
"I'll always give a round of applause for their appreciation because they pay money to be here and be here to support us, whether it's home or away."
