Corey O’Keeffe has returned to Barnsley after a loan at Stockport County in the first half of the season.
The 27-year-old has played 23 games for County in all competitions, scoring once, having been moved on last summer because he has been a wing-back whereas the Reds were switching to a back four.
He rarely started in the league for Stockport who have sent him back but Barnsley were understood to have been keen to recall him anyway.
O’Keeffe, who is contracted until 2027 at Oakwell, has played 91 games for the Reds.
Head coach Conor Hourihane told the club website: "We’re pleased to welcome Corey back into the group. He’s a player who gives us real flexibility, particularly in the attacking third with his ability to drive forward from wide areas and deliver quality into the box.
"With the fixture build‑up we’re facing over the coming months, having additional competition across those positions is going to be really important. Corey’s energy and experience will be a valuable boost as we push on in the second half of the season.”
