Barnsley’s Kacper Lopata has been sent back from his loan at League Two Bristol Rovers.

The 24-year-old centre-back was due to spend all season with the Gas, but played 17 times. He came off with a minor hamstring issue on New Year’s Day.

It is thought Lopata could be loaned out again this window, having not been involved at all under Conor Hourihane in pre-season.

Lopata signed a four-year contract with Barnsley in 2023 and has played 17 games but not in the last 17 months, having been loaned out three times in total.
