Neil Farrugia has left Barnsley for Scottish top flight club Dundee United on a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old Irishman has played in a variety of positions for the Reds, mainly left-back or right wing.

Farrugia, who signed a year ago until 2027 from Shamrock Rovers, has only started twice in the league under Conor Hourihane. He scored once in 30 Reds games in the EFL Trophy against Manchester United under 21s.

He is the latest player to be moved on this window after Jon Russell was loaned to Mansfield while the loans of Caylan Vickers and Jake Rooney were cancelled.

Barnsley are thought to be attempting to bring in at least one new winger this window.
