BECKY Moody is hoping to continue her run of major international equestrian competitions with horse Jagerbomb this year.
The Gunthwaite woman, 45, thought her chances of reaching the top level may have gone. But, after raising ‘Bomb’, she won team bronze at the last Olympics then silver in the European Championships last year.
Becky said: “It’s not something I really expected but it goes to show what can happen if you chip away at something for a long time.
“It was my dream to do this when I was younger but I had stepped away from it a bit and was focusing on coaching and competing at a slightly lower level. I happened to breed a horse who is amazing.
“It’s a monumental team effort to get elite athletes to the top of their game and I am really grateful for all the support we have.”
Becky – who runs Moody Dressage, coaching riders and training horses – and Jagerbomb have been competing in the World Cup shows over the winter.
“We’ve done a couple of shows in Lyon and London. He did well and we’re going to Amsterdam next week.
“We will see whether we qualify for the final in Texas. That would be our first time getting there.”
Becky’s main goal for the year is the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany in August while she is not ruling out a second Olympics with Jagerbomb in LA in 2028.
“That would be my goal but it’s still quite a long way away. Keeping horses fit is our top priority but, if we’re in the right place at the right time, we would definitely go for it.”
