ISSUES such as road safety, illegal bikers and the need for more bobbies on the beat were discussed during a meeting organised by a councillor.
Coun Jake Lodge, who represents the Worsbrough ward, was joined by Inspector Rebecca Richardson and Deputy Mayor of South Yorkshire for Policing and Crime Kilvinder Vigurs at the get-together.
During the meeting, Coun Lodge highlighted ongoing concerns from residents about dangerous driving, off-road bikes, speeding and road safety hotspots, stressing the impact these issues have on community safety and quality of life.
He called for stronger enforcement and targeted action to make streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike, while also highlighting the importance of investing in neighbourhood policing as a vital tool in tackling crime and antisocial behaviour.
“It was a productive discussion and a valuable opportunity to speak directly with the deputy mayor and raise the voice of Worsbrough residents about the issues they face daily,” he told the Chronicle.
“Road safety and off-road bikes are major concerns locally and we need meaningful action to reduce risks on our roads.
“At the same time, investing in neighbourhood policing is essential if we are serious about tackling crime and making people feel safe where they live.”
