Dorothy Kirby, 65, of Stead Lane, has been nominated by Susan and John Norton of Hillcrest, Hoyland Common.

Susan, 51, said Dorothy has been a warden and a carer for 27 years and despite retiring, she still finds time to shop and care for others.

Dorothy calls on Susan and John, 73, every morning, to check they are okay and looks after John when Susan goes out.

Susan said: "If I am out shopping and can't get back in time, she will call on John, who has Parkinson's to make him a cup of tea or sandwich so I don't need to worry."
