CONOR Hourihane says Charlie Lennon and Georgie Gent are ‘bang in the thoughts’ for first team selection for the remainder of Barnsley’s season.
Winger Lennon, 19, signed from Middlesbrough in the January transfer window but is yet to play, having not been in recent matchday squads.
Left-back Gent missed nine months with an Achilles injury which needed surgery. He played 90 minutes at Peterborough in the FA Cup in December then came on after 88 minutes at Liverpool in the third round last month. But he has not been in recent league squads or played in the third tier for almost a year.
They both played for the under 21s on Tuesday.
Hourihane told the Chronicle: “They’re bang in the thoughts just like everyone else. Georgie needs to keep playing minutes to get himself in a good place, in a strong place, when needed or if called upon. Charlie Lennon’s obviously just through the door and is developing and getting familiar with the surroundings.
“They’re both showing really good signs in training and will be available for squads moving forward, as they have been for the last few weeks.”
