BARNSLEY South MP Stephanie Peacock recently joined a Darfield care home’s residents and staff for the handover of chocolate bars collected to raise money for Barnsley Hospice.

Thornhill House aimed to collect 1,000 chocolate bars to include in hampers sold in aid of the hospice, however they have collected 2,700 through the support of people from the local area.

In 2025, this scheme raised £8,000 for Barnsley Hospice, with this year’s total expected to exceed this.

Stephanie said: “It was lovely to pop into Thornhill House Care Home for the handover of 2,700 chocolate bars to Barnsley Hospice where they will be used for fundraising in hampers.

“The team at Thornhill House set a target of collecting 1,000 bars, but due to the generosity of the community here in Barnsley, the number of bars collected far exceeded this.

“I always enjoy visiting Thornhill House and it is lovely to see the community coming together to support the important work of Barnsley Hospice that means so much to families across Barnsley.”
