CONOR Hourihane says there has been no approach from Wigan Athletic for him but says being linked with other jobs shows him he is doing something right as Barnsley head coach.
Wigan, who sacked Ryan Lowe earlier this week, have put Hourihane’s name on a four-man list according to reports with Exeter’s Gary Caldwell allegedly favourite to return to his old club. The Reds head coach told the Chronicle: “I am very used to different scenarios, whether it is moves in my playing career or my players being linked with moves.
“I just need to care take of the business in front of me. It’s early in my head coach career so to have my name involved is new. It’s nice to see, I suppose, because it means people like what we are doing but I am very focused on the job.”
Pressed if there had been any contact with himself or the club, he said: “No, it’s just a name linked. It was some sort of shortlist.
“Whoever has put it together knows a little bit more info than me but it’s nice to have your name out there.
“If you are linked with something in the right way it means you are doing something right.”
