Barnsley came from behind to beat Peterborough United 2-1 on Tuesday and stretched their unbeaten home run to five games in 2026.

The visitors took the lead but Luca Connell levelled before half-time then Reyes Cleary put the Reds in front just after the break.

They moved up three places 13th in League One, eight points off both the top six and bottom four.

Conor Hourihane made three changes from Saturday’s draw with Wimbledon. Eoghan O’Connell replaced Marc Roberts, Adam Phillips came in for Tom Bradshaw and Georgie Gent made his first league appearance under Hourihane at left-back in place of Tennai Watson.

David McGoldrick headed over from six yards out after meeting a right-wing Corey O’Keeffe cross.

Peterborough should have opened the scoring when, after a clever Carl Johnston pass, Kyrell Lisbie’s ball over the top was brought down by Harry Leonard amid calls of offside but Owen Goodman impressively denied him one-on-one.

The opener arrived four minutes later when, after Goodman parried a Declan Frith shot, Lisbie fired in from close range.

Leonard missed another big chance when Lisbie, having again been found by a fine Johnston pass, whipped in a wicked cross but the striker almost totally missed the bouncing ball.

The equaliser came against the run of play on 34 minutes when, after McGoldrick robbed a defender of the ball on the left wing and there was a scramble in the box, Connell collected the ball and curled a fine shot into the bottom left corner from the edge of the area on the right.

Peterborough almost responded immediately when James Dornelly’s low cross from the right was met by Leonard who was again denied from close range by Goodman’s block.

Frith skipped past both Gent and Jack Shepherd on the left then squared to Jimmy Jay Morgan who should have scored but blazed over ten yards out.

Barnsley started the second half well and took the lead. O’Keeffe’s right wing cross fell to Cleary and he curled a shot into the top right corner.

Goodman easily saved from Brandon Khela’s 20-yard strike then, at the other end, O’Connell’s excellent pass put McGoldrick through but he was denied by the goalkeeper Alex Bass.

Posh substitute Patryk Sykut shot over from a low Cian Hayes cross then, at the other end, substitute Tom Bradshaw touched wide from a Banks free-kick.
