PARENTS and carers of teenagers who are causing chaos in Cudworth have been warned by officers that their tenancy agreements with Berneslai Homes could be in jeopardy if their behaviour continues.
Officers from Barnsley North East Neighbourhood Policing Team say they have seen an increase in reports of antisocial behaviour by youths in and around the Barnsley Road area, particularly at the Co-op.
Some of the unruly youths were caught by officers this week and were warned of their actions - and the police have vowed to increase patrols in the area as a result.
A spokesperson said: “On Sunday, we have caught up with two young males who had allegedly caused damage to a building in Cudworth whilst behaving antisocially.
“We have attended and observed them on the roof of the building, it wasn’t long before they gave us a rude hand gesture and ran off into the distance.
“Both teenagers were taken home and Barnsley Council and Berneslai Homes were informed - the behaviour unsurprisingly didn’t seem so funny to them after.
“If your child is committing ASB you could be in breach of your tenancy agreement and risk receiving a formal warning.
“We take antisocial behaviour seriously and offenders can expect a joint visit from us and the relevant agencies.
“This may seem minor in comparison to some of the work we do, but antisocial behaviour affects everyone and if you report it, we will continue to tackle it.”
