INTERVIEWING star-studded celebrities is something that journalists and radio hosts train years for - but Finley Clayton looks to have got the hang of it at just ten years old.
The Monk Bretton schoolboy already seems destined for greatness and his mum, Rachel, says he has a real passion for drama and acting.
And that’s certainly going to come in handy when he begins his new role as an interviewer to the stars.
The ten-year-old entered a competition by Heart Radio to become their new ‘Showbiz Kid’.
He made it to the final four and last Friday it was announced he was victorious.
And despite his young age, he’s already found himself interviewing some huge names.
Finley attends Burton Road Primary School who say he is a ‘fantastic ambassador’ for the school.
Rachel told the Chronicle: “They advertised the competition on Heart Radio for their Showbiz Kid.
“He entered the competition and then he was contacted to say he was going to be a finalist.
“As part of that then he was asked to interview Amanda Holden on the breakfast programme.
“Following that they announced the winner on Friday and he was announced as a winner along with another girl.
“He was obviously a little bit nervous on Friday awaiting the results.
“But he’s really looking forward to it.”
And Finley was thrown straight into the deep-end - interviewing his favourite celebrity Claudia Winkleman.
The interview hit the headlines after Claudia said ‘Oh no. F*ck sake’ thinking that Finley had already left - but he hadn’t.
He burst into laughter and Claudia said ‘Finley, do not be me ever. I’m so sorry.’ - only for the youngster to reassure her saying ‘it’s fine’.
Rachel said he loved the whole experience.
She added: “He said that his favourite celebrity we would like to interview was Claudia Winkleman.
“She was on the show so he interviewed her as well.
“Claudia was lovely - she had loads of time for him.
“He asked her about the Traitors and her new talk show.
“He had a really positive experience.
“He takes everything in his stride and he has been really confident with it.”
And the nation can expect to hear Finley’s Barnsley twang on the airwaves in the future - potentially even on the red carpet.
Rachel said: “Moving forward as the winner, him and the other little girl will go down to London and interview celebrities for Heart Radio.
“They’ve said it might be things like red carpet events.
“He’ll be interviewing anyone who is promoting something.
“I think he would just like to be in the entertainment industry in any format really.”
