A YOUNG Barnsley girl who showed composure and bravery when her mum suffered a medical emergency has been nominated for a Young Champions award.

Seven-year-old Rebecca Dickinson-Sargieson is described by her mum, Niamh, as ‘kind and caring’ and that was clearly on show when she showed extraordinary composure beyond her years to support her mum.

After suffering a medical emergency, Rebecca called her family members and made sure that she stayed with her mum until the paramedics arrived.

Despite being so young, she knew exactly what to do and has since been praised for her quick-thinking actions.

Her mum said: “It was just a normal day.

“We were getting ready for bed when I started to feel a little bit off.

“I asked her to ring for help so she rang and explained to family what was happening and she waited for the paramedics to show up.

“Once they had shown up she let them in and put a smile on their face by showing them her Barbie ambulance and doing a little dance.
