AN iconic Barnsley hairdresser has been invited to join the judging panel of one of the industry’s most prestigious awards.

Rob Eaton, son of Russell Eaton, is a cornerstone in Barnsley’s hairdressing scene.

Together, Rob and his father run the renowned Russell Eaton salons, based in Barnsley and Leeds.

Rob has now been announced as a judge of the 70th annual L’Oréal Colour Trophy - which sees the global haircare brand recognise the leading salons and their colourists across the UK and Ireland.

At just 23, Rob won the trophy, a turning point that kicked off his relationship with the brand.

He said: “The technical standard of colour in salons has never been higher, crediting continual innovation in technology and education for allowing hairdressers to push creativity while still respecting hair health.

“What keeps me passionate is the sense of community and live connection that events like L’Oréal Colour Trophy bring back into the industry.

“As a judge, my criteria reflects everything I’ve learned over three decades.

“On the day, I look for competitors who can recreate their look in real life, ensuring every element works together: hair, cut, colour, styling, fashion and overall image.

“Crucially, I value work that balances inspiring the industry while being relatable to salon clients, crafting creative yet wearable looks that will ultimately drive people into salons.”
