A CHARITY fan zone screening England’s World Cup games will take place at Shaw Lane Sports Club in the summer.
Hosted by Barnsley Round Table, the group are expanding their charitable reach by partnering with the club to host a series of screening events during the tournament.
They say that those in attendance can expect a stadium-like atmosphere featuring a massive 45m2 LED screen, a bar and food vendors.
All the profits from the events will be donated to local charities and good causes from across the borough.
Mike Ogle, one of the event organisers at Barnsley Round Table, said: “What started as a fun idea has turned into a huge buzz event we cannot wait to launch.
“We want to bring the town together to get behind England and create an amazing atmosphere as Tuchel’s men represent us on the international stage.
“Our team has decades of experience in charity event management, and we are committed to making this event a success to add a new avenue of fundraising for local charities.”
To ensure a premium experience for all ages, the organisers are providing professional security, on-site medical cover, and enhanced toilet facilities.
To keep younger fans entertained, the group is working with Martin Devaney’s Momentous Football Academy to provide dedicated half-time activities for children on their astroturf pitch on the site.
