A TWELVE-feet-high sculpture could soon be added to the Trans Pennine Trail, should plans be deemed acceptable.
The Connected Worsbrough - Together We Rise sculpture has been designed to reflect the themes of the area.
It has been designed by local artist Patrick Murphy and has a poem written on it by Ian McMillan.
If approved, the corten steel sculpture will be added to the TPT entrance on Park Road, Worsbrough.
A report said: “The sculpture is part of Barnsley Council’s community enhancement programme - Love Where You Live.
“It is a capital investment set to improve local areas and celebrate community pride.
“The sculpture has been created with local residents to continue the feeling of community empowerment and sense of belonging.
“This visual narrative is supported by a new poem by Ian McMillan, reproduced vertically on the sculpture so that ‘language and image move together’.”
Five neighbouring properties were made aware of the plans with no appeals to date.
A target decision date has been set for June 8.
