A LIFELINE youth club which has been helping kids for years has finally found new premises after concerns it may have to close for good.

Dearne Kids’ Group runs from Houghton Road Community Centre in Thurnscoe twice a week.

The cash-strapped club have previously appealed for locals to help them fundraise to pay for the rent, but they were recently told they will need to vacate the premises and move into a smaller venue.

Bosses at the group were struggling to find anywhere suitable and there were some genuine concerns they may no longer be able to support youngsters across the area.

But this week they announced they have found a new home the BODY Carnegie Centre in Bolton-upon-Dearne.

Connor Fay, from the club, told the Chronicle: “After a challenging period, our priority has always been making sure the children and young people we support continue to have access to a safe, supportive space.

“This new location gives us the facilities we need to safely store our equipment, protect confidential information, and continue running sessions effectively.

“We’re excited about this next chapter and the opportunities it brings to grow and reach even more children in the community.”
