THE Lib Dems hope that their 'miles and miles' of campaigning pulls through in what looks likely to be an election in which the Reform Party make huge strides.

There are currently 12 Lib Dem councillors in the town hall and they are the current opposition to the Labour-run council.

Votes are still being counted and verified but Coun Chris Wray, who represents the Dodworth ward, admits it's going to be a tight.

He told the Chronicle: "All I know is we've fought a hard campaign with local councillors, we've fought on local issues and hopefully that pushes through.

"I think all you need to do is look at the national turnout of 43 per cent.

"That's unheard of for the local election.

"So, there's a lot of people turned out and why they've turned out, who knows.

"It will be national issues though.
