A young hairdresser from Monk Bretton will showcase European hairstyles at a show at The Ritz Hotel in Osaka, Japan.
Ellen Summerfield, 19, of Helston Crescent, will spend ten days in Japan with her tutor Elena Christmas.
Ellen works at Caroline Rowe Hair Design in Monk Bretton but received her qualifications through the Leslie Frances apprentice scheme.
Her appearance at the show is part of that scheme.
As well as working with Japanese hairdressing students, Ellen will take part in the annual hair show where she will demonstrate European hairstyles on Japanese models.
"I'm really looking forward to it and I'm excited but I'm a bit nervous," she said.
"I've been learning bits of Japanese and can say things like 'nice to meet you' and 'my name is Ellen'."
As well as hairdressing, Elena and Ellen will be taken sight-seeing and to top restaurants.
