LOCALS proved that every stroke counts at a charity golf day which raised almost £10,000 for Barnsley Hospice.
The day is a key event in the organisation’s fundraising calendar, with businesses and teams from across the borough coming together on the course to make a difference.
This year was no exception with £9,649 raised on the day through donations and 20 teams taking part at Silkstone Golf Club.
Simon Atkinson, corporate partnerships manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’re so proud to see our golf day be a success once again.
“It’s always an amazing atmosphere of supporters having a good time on the course, while knowing they are helping to make a difference to local families when they need it most.
“It was great to see so many teams returning once again to support us, along with new faces participating for the first time.
“We’d like to express our thanks to all the players who took part, as well as those who donated a prize or refreshments.
“Also, to our incredible event sponsors Lifetime who sponsored the event for the 14th consecutive year and had a team playing on the day.”
Roebucks Estate Agents took the top spot and were crowned winners on the day, with CBC Computers securing second and Ben Kinghorn and friends taking third place.
