A woman has been left with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car on Wakefield Road.

 

The 48-year-old suffered a broken pelvis, leg and a head injury as she crossed the road at about 7pm on Saturday.

 

She was taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital where her condition is described as life-threatening.

 

Police believe a black Honda CRV was travelling towards Barnsley, around 80 metres before the junction of Newstead Road, when it has collided with two pedestrians who are reported to have been crossing the road on the driver’s offside.

The second pedestrian, a 44-year-old Barnsley man suffered a broken leg.

 

He was taken to Barnsley Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The 53-year-old driver, from Barnsley, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
