Barnsley slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season as Leicester's Jamie Vardy scored a last-minute equaliser to secure 2-2 draw at the King Power stadium on Saturday.
The draw means that the Reds are now in 22nd place, below Bristol City who won 3-2 at Sheffield Wednesday.
Barnsley looked set for a famous victory after Stephen Dawson's strike and a fine overhead kick from Reuben Noble-Lazarus put them 2-1 up at half-time after Anthony Knockaert had put the hosts ahead.
But Leicester had several chances in the second half and eventually levelled through Vardy's good finish which extended Barnsley's winless run to ten games.
Keith Hill made five changes to the team that was thrashed 4-1 at Watford seven days earlier. He removed strikers Emile Sinclair and Marcus Tudgay - who had scored two in two - leaving Craig Davies on his own up front. Hill also changed the centre-back combination by dropping Stephen Foster to the bench and removing Jim McNulty from the squad. Scott Wiseman returned to the side to partner Martin Cranie who moved in from right-back with John Stones replacing him. Dawson also started in place of the injured Jacob Mellis while David Perkins returned to the bench.
Knockaert netted after Wiseman's poor clearance and Leicester had several other chances saved by Luke Steele and a goal ruled out for Martyn Waghorn.
Dawson levelled against the run of play following a dreadul kick by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel which went straight to Jim O'Brien. The midfielder fed Craig Davies whose shot was saved and the rebound was turned in by Dawson. Noble-Lazarus then scored his stunning over head kick to make it 2-1 on 40 minutes.
The Reds had very few chances in the second half and Steele made several good saves to keep them ahead.
Vardy eventually salvaged a draw for the hosts who had several chances to win it late on including Marko Futacs' header which was saved off the line by Martin Cranie.
