A concert by the Barnsley Community Choir has raised more than £1,000 for a charity set up in memory of a little girl who died of cancer.
The concert, ‘Tracks of our Years’ was held in Barnsley College’s new Electric Theatre on Falcon Street and the proceeds have been donated to ‘The Pippa Jones Little Treasure Trust’.
The 45-strong choir was accompanied by music students from Barnsley College who performed songs from the 1950s to 2012.
The trust was set up by Louise Jones, of Haverdale Rise, Gawber, whose daughter Pippa died from a brain tumour in March 2010.
Louise, who was awarded the Proud of Barnsley Volunteer of the Year Award, said: “We had a very enjoyable evening listening to the wonderful voices of the Barnsley Community Choir.
“The cash raised will be spent on activity bags for children with cancer and on grants towards childcare costs for families who have a child with cancer and other siblings to look after.”
