A HOST of Barnsley residents have been recognised in King Charles’ Birthday Honours.
The King's Birthday Honours are prestigious awards given by the reigning monarch to celebrate individuals who have made outstanding achievements, gone above and beyond in their roles, or made exceptional contributions to British society.
Tom Banham, the chief executive of HCAT, has been awarded an OBE for services to education.
Simon Perryman, former chair of governors at Barnsley College, also received the honour.
Valerie Mills has been made an MBE, the third-highest ranking grade in the awards.
She is the chair of Barnsley Premier Leisure (BPL) and received the award for her services to the community in Barnsley.
The chief executive of DIAL Barnsley, Sharon Jane Brown, has received a British Empire Medal for her services to disabled people.
Lynsey Corbiere, a customer services officer at East Midlands Railway, has been awarded the same accolade for services to rail passengers.
While volunteer and fundraiser Judy Holling - a former Proud of Barnsley winner - also picked up the award.
