YORKSHIRE Academy under 18s are due to play at Shaw Lane on Thursday.

They are set to take on Derbyshire in a one-day game from 11am.

The women’s under 18s side are due to play at the Barnsley venue the following Monday and Tuesday, with other age group teams to visit later in the summer.

The boys’ squad includes Barnsley’s Charlie Taylor and Cawthorne’s Joe Hayes while Rockingham pair Izzy Fidler and Maiya Charlesworth are in the girls’ squads.

Shaw Lane is being used more often by Yorkshire having been chosen as the club’s preferred venue in South Yorkshire to host first team games in the future.

The club are planning major renovations, including potentially a new pavilion, before they are due to host a One Day Cup game in 2028 then a County Championship match after that.

Yorkshire have not played a first team game in Barnsley since the 1970s and never a County Championship match.

The women’s Elite Player Performance Plan team will face Warwickshire on June 29 with the academy side taking on the same opponents the next day.
