A FATHER and daughter film-making duo who created a sell-out documentary on Laurel and Hardy and the legendary comedy duo’s connections with Yorkshire are now working on a follow-up film.

Dean and Rebecca Sills, from Bolton-upon-Dearne, began filming ‘Laurel and Hardy: To Hull and Back’ last month.

The pair plan to follow in the footsteps of Laurel and Hardy in Hull, Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

So far Dean and Rebecca have interviewed a number of people including John Wheatley, whose father worked at the Palace Theatre in Hull and John Cooper, whose auntie was Stan Laurel’s sister Olga.

Dean said: “The support for this film has been amazing with loads of people helping us out including The Original Laurel and Hardy magazine.

“We will be filming all summer and autumn and hopefully releasing the film in January or February next year.

“It just depends on how quick we get all the interviews done.

“We are editing the interviews as we do them and we have just done a quick teaser trailer featuring John Cooper.

“John is 94 years old and his memory is remarkable about meeting Laurel and Hardy and time spent with his auntie Olga.

“It really is the holy grail of the new film.”

Dean and Rebecca’s first film on Laurel and Hardy has now been broadcasting exclusively on Talking Pictures TV Encore for a whole year.
