POLICE are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man was left with life-threatening injuries when he was knocked down by a bus.

At around 12.33pm on Tuesday, emergency services responded to an incident on Pontefract Road.

Initial enquiries have led officers to believe that the pedestrian, a man in his 50s was at the junction of Lambra Road when collision with the bus has occurred.

The man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a black Vauxhall Mokka who is believed to have witnessed the collision prior to leaving the scene.

“Any other witnesses who haven’t already spoken to officers are also urged to get in touch, alongside anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage of the collision, or the bus and pedestrian prior to the collision.
