Christmas promises to be very special for Lily Atkinson.

The two-year-old tot briefly came out of hospital on Christmas Eve last year in a break from chemotherapy for tumours that riddled her body.

Lily, of Wentworth Road, Blacker Hill, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last year.

She underwent chemotherapy to treat a tumour in her neck and ten tumours that had spread throughout her body.

Dad Jonathan, 42, said he and his wife Angie, 41, were stunned by the news.

"Your world just falls apart, nothing can describe it. She's not had any treatment for four months and she keeps going back for scans.

"She has still got a tumour on her skull but the doctors are seeing if that will go away on its own."

Jonathan said last year the family didn't really have a Christmas but looking forward to it this year.

"I think Lily is looking forward to what Father Christmas is going to bring her.

"This time last year was completely different to where we are now."
