A controversial first half goal by Chris O'Grady gave Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 win at local rivals Barnsley in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday.
O'Grady - who Reds boss Keith Hill has tried to bring to Oakwell on several occasions - tapped in after Luke Steele dropped a cross after contact from Gary Madine. The home goalkeeper claimed to have been fouled but the goal stood.
Wednesday's win ended a run of seven straight losses but they stayed behind Barnsley on goal average in 23rd place. The Reds are 22nd and have not won in 11 games.
Former Owls striker Marcus Tudgay had the chance to reply immediately but sent his close-range header over.
Miguel Llera and David Prutton cleared off the line for Wednesday in the second half while Chris Kirkland saved well from Marlon Harewood twice, Davies and Tudgay.
