YOUNGSTERS from primary schools across the borough set up their own inventive produce stalls.
Children from schools across Barnsley swapped the classroom for market stalls - all to sell fresh, school-grown fruit and vegetables to the public in support of a great cause.
The first Young Marketeers Barnsley Market Day took place on Tuesday from 12pm to 2pm at Barnsley Market.
The children enjoyed a special visit from Coun Liam Hardcastle, the Mayor of Barnsley, who spoke to them about the programme.
Young Marketeers is a food education programme run by charity School Food Matters, funded by Barnsley Council.
The pupils put their new gardening, teamwork and marketing skills into practice while learning more about where food comes from.
Stephanie Slater MBE, founder and chief executive of School Food Matters, said: “Food education is a vital life skill that can help children build a connection with food and where it comes from.”
