A TRADER is threatening to chop down a tree on Wombwell High Street because it’s covering his sign.

Paul Wilson, owner of Wilson Mobility, says people are getting lost trying to find the store. He has asked the council to chop down the tree but is fed up of no action being taken.

“They can either half my rates or chop the thing down. It’s getting to the stage where I might just do it myself. We have delivery drivers coming and getting lost.”

Coun Margaret Morgan said any complaints should go through the proper channels. She added that the trees make the area more attractive.

*In August, a tree outside Wilkinson was chopped down, prompting a police investigation to find the culprit.
