Barnsley Football Club's gym will be renamed the John Stones Fitness Suite and the walls covered in photos of the England under 19 international in order to inspire other players to emulate his success.

This is part of a series of changes manager David Flitcroft is making at Oakwell over the summer. He is also looking at ways to stop 'neglecting families' and will change the lay-out of the offices and entrances at the club.

Stones played 28 times for Barnsley before moving to Everton in January in a deal thought to be worth £3million.

Flitcroft said: "Stonesy built his character in there. Guy Proctor (fitness coach) had him down there for two years locked in the dungeon and he came out a man. Some of the young lads at this club have a lot of talent but you need to be physically strong to play men's football. "Stonesy is a perfect example of what you can do through hard work."
