The teenage son of former Manchester City goalkeeper Andy Dibble will be Barnsley's third choice stopper next season.
Christian Dibble, 19, joins the Reds on a one-year deal after leaving League Two Bury. Barnsley have an option to extend the deal next summer.
Dibble is a replacement for Lithuanian under 20 international Lukas Lidakevicius who has left the club after rejecting their offer of a new contract.
Barnsley boss David Flitcroft said of Dibble: "He's got good pedigree, being the son of Andy Dibble, as well as good size. There's a lot of work to do but we think we can make him better, fitter, leaner and more athletic.
"We signed Andrai Jones from Bury and he played well against Derby and Nottingham Forest."
