Hollie-Jane Woodhouse of Stairfoot is dancing on air after being nominated for a Young Superstar award in our Proud of Barnsley awards.
Hollie-Jane, 16, of New Street, has just won the TDCI North and West Yorkshire senior ballet championship in Leeds.
One of her proudest achievements was in 2012 when she was chosen to carry the Olympic torch, and in 2011 she was nominated for Le Classique de Dance Award - recognised as the 'Oscars' of the dancing profession.
Hollie-Jane has studied dance and musical theatre since the age of three and attends the Betty Chappelle Dance Studio in Penistone.
For the last four years she has been a senior associate at the Northern Ballet in Leeds and has just been granted a further year on its training programme.
Training between 16 to 20 hours per week, she studies ballet, modern contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre, drama and piano.
She has performed in many festivals and local theatre productions, including performances at the Lamp Room Theatre in Barnsley, Northern Ballet productions and both academic and dance school productions.
Her nominator Jane Woodhouse said: "Hollie-Jane's tireless commitment, talent, enthusiasm and positive attitude has received the recognition and respect, not only from her peers, but in all her teachers and tutors alike. She is an inspiration and example to us all and well deserves to be nominated."
Hollie-Jane already has a clutch of awards. They include
successes in modern dance, tap and ballet and scholarship awards from the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and the Theatre Dance Council International (TDCI).
She is currently north east of England Tap Champion and south and west Yorkshire Senior Modern Champion.
