THOUSANDS of homes in Barnsley were left without power after a major power cut on Wednesday.
Shoppers in Barnsley town centre were locked out of the Alhambra Centre for more than an hour as shops were left in darkness.
A spokesman for Northern Powergrid said there was a fault on the high voltage supply to the S70 area, cutting power at 12.14pm.
They said power was returned at 3.34pm and apologised for any inconvenience.
