Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis was the guest of honour at a special evening at Barnsley College to celebrate the launch of a new website for leading dementia charity Lost Chord.
Lost Chord is the South Yorkshire-based organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of people struggling with dementia through the power of music.
The charity’s year-round programme of interactive musical events visits care homes and day centres throughout the region and nationally, improving quality of life for almost 1,500 people every month.
The special evening at Barnsley College included a performance from two of Lost Chord’s most popular musicians, international soprano Deborah Norman and pianist Andrea Kmecova, as well as songs from students and music from the young violinists and cellists of the Silkstone String Ensemble.
“Lost Chord needs to raise £290,000 annually to keep our current programme running and our new website includes many ways that people can get involved, either as a volunteer at our musical sessions or as a fundraiser,” said the charity’s founder and chief executive, Helena Muller.
