Royston has a new Labout councillor after Caroline Makinson won 67 per cent of the vote in the by-election.
The results were as follows:
• Caroline Makinson (Labour) - 1143
• Paul Buckley (Conservative) - 100
• James Johnson (UK Independent Party) - 393

The turnout was 20.10 per cent.
The by-election was held following the retirement of Coun Graham Kyte.
