A POLICE sergeant from Barnsley has stitched up the opposition in a national police first aid competition.

As part of the South Yorkshire First Aid team, Darren Taylor battled against top first-aid teams from across the country to claim the top national team award - the Pim Trophy - and went on to scoop the top award for individual first-aid.

The competition scenario that faced Darren was to ‘treat’ two workmen on a building site suffering from serious injuries.

It is the second successive national first-aid victory for South Yorkshire following the success of Insp Ian Hill and Constable Sharon Chapman who won the top national and individual awards last year.
