John Cofie could join Reuben Noble-Lazarus on loan at League Two Scunthorpe United soon.

Left-sided Reuben, 20, was sent out to the Iron on Tuesday until New Year's Day and is expected to play against Accrington Stanley tomorrow. Striker Cofie, also 20, who signed in the summer after release from Manchester United, has not played yet this season.

Manager David Flitcroft told the Chronicle: "It is possible that John Cofie could go to Scunthorpe as well but it depends how Reuben fits in there. We have had enquiries about a few other players but not from the right clubs. I trust Brian Laws (Scunthorpe manager) and his assistant Russ Wilcox. They have been admirers of Reuben for quite some time."

Noble-Lazarus is still the youngest ever Football League player and has made appearances in the Reds' last six years. He has played 41 matches, scoring twice, and has appeared five times this season before drifting out of favour with Flitcroft. The Reds boss added: "Reuben has only ever known Barnsley Football Club so he will benefit from doing things differently somewhere else.

"He has worked very hard over the last three or four years but we have a lot of wide players at the club like Tomasz Cywka, Jim O'Brien, Dale Jennings, Paddy McCourt and Jacob Mellis. I want Reuben to come back from this loan on top form and challenge those players."
