Five weeks after Wombwell Main thrashed Barnsley Sunday League rivals Largo 28-0 in the Challenge Cup, the two teams played in a closer Hospital Cup match last Sunday, with the scoreline being 28-1.

Adam Wordsworth's magnificent 35-yard screamer got Division Five side Largo on the scoresheet. Once again Premier Division Wombwell's Danny Frost and Simon Chadburn – two of the top strikers on the Barnsley non-league scene – scored 20 goals between them with 12 and eight respectively.

Surprisingly, Wombwell's other striker Darryl Smith failed to net.

Main manager Ian Woodhall said: "I've never known anything like it. Two 28s in the same season between the same two teams. Largo set their stall out not to concede 28 again and they worked really hard but we were just too good."

Largo were due to play Athersley Rec in the first round but the champions pulled out so they received a bye then were dismayed to have drawn Wombwell again. Their player Thomas Wood said: "We were unlucky to get a Premier Division side three times in a row in cup draws.

"We are not that bad a side. We beat Hoyland Town who play in Division Three the week before in the Supplementary Cup but Wombwell are a different class. "They are a good set of lads though and we all had a drink together afterwards."
