Heroic Stephen William Thacker has been presented with a Commander's Commendation award from Chief Superintendent Andy Brooke.
Stephen, 23, from Goldthorpe, dashed into a blazing house on Jackson Street in an attempt to save lives after seeing flames from the outside.
Fortunately nobody was in the building but Stephen he checked all possible hiding places before he leaving the building.
