YOUNG Mapplewell footballers are hoping to bag a fortune and buy a minibus with a 60-second pitch to judges on a new reality television show.
Julie Paylor, founder of Mapplewell Mavericks’ Junior Football Club, completed an internet application as a ‘bit of a laugh’ and was amazed to receive a phone call from independent production company Fever Media less than an hour later.
The Mavericks successfully recorded a rehearsal in Leeds followed by a trip to a Manchester hotel last Thursday night where they delivered their minute-long pitch.
Fever Media contacted Julie on Friday to say that the team were through and that they are to go to London on December 11 for a live recording to put their pitch to the real judges. Julie said: “I keep pinching myself, to get this far is fantastic for us.”
